If you don’t already know me or you’re starting off your time here wondering, “who the heck is this and why should I care?” - let me explain by covering the 5 W’s; who, what, when where, and why?
Who?
So who the heck am I? Well, my name is Ashley Burgess, self proclaimed “Buzz Boss.” (Yeah, I thought real hard on that one, obviously.) I am everything you might be as a reader and friend of this platform.
A single mom.
A workaholic.
A student.
Sometimes a little lost.
A hard worker.
A creative soul.
Strong willed.
Full of hopes and dreams.
Sometimes a little discouraged.
A lot of times busier than I’d like to be.
A… cleaner, chauffeur, mentor, friend, girlfriend, comedian, guidance counselor, tired, all-the-things… woman.
Did I cover all the bases there? In other words, I’m a lot like you.
What?
What am I doing here? Oh, a little of this, a little of that. Partially, I’m here to let out a bit of creative juices. Also, my therapist suggested journaling and I won’t do it (PERIOD) if I don’t have some type of way to hold myself accountable. I also have a strong desire to be here and to help.
So here we are. What I’m doing is providing another platform or another community for women who relate to me and find the advice and community they need. I’m not afraid to talk about “weird” or “taboo” stuff. If you’ve known me long enough or hang out with me long enough, you’ll see that I’m an open book, don’t usually beat around the bush, and will talk about the hard truth sometimes.
When?
I don’t know that much yet. I’m hoping some of you wonderful people can help me pinpoint that by letting me know what you need and when you need it. All I can promise right now is a blog for you, at minimum, once a week. Maybe more if something really speaks with me. Until y’all tell me otherwise, we’re just here trying to figure it out like everyone else.
Where?
Right here, silly! Really, the where depends on what type of content you need and how you prefer to receive it. This blog is just another option for those that prefer this platform, or a channel I can link to when I need to get more in depth about things. Why?
Ah, the most impactful one of all. The question we spend the majority of our lives asking. Why? Little fun fact about me, I recently graduated my Bachelor’s degree program in business. (Ugh, I know. Cue the eye roll.) But hey, maybe business is your thing, and that’s great! More power to you friend, but it ain’t mine! Now that I’ve completed that, I’m seriously considering going back to school to get a Master’s degree in psychology because I genuinely want to understand the WHY to everything! It fascinates me! Those general psychology and development classes were my fave during the general education portion of my degree program.
Anyways, why I’m here… I’m here because I’m trying to start something that’s not only fitting for me, but for other people just like me. Sorry, not sorry, but there’s not enough out there in the world catered to women in similar situations as me and, obviously, it’s time we change that. I SAID WHAT I SAID. Its high time to be realistic, open, and do something that actually works for other people like me instead of us having to find something kind of “okay” and changing it up entirely to fit our lives.
So now the question is… are you with me? Can I ask you to give me the benefit of the doubt here and join me on this journey?
